Tuning questions from Reading owners.
Where do you tune cars from Reading?
All performance and calibration work is carried out at our Hurst workshop in Berkshire, around twenty minutes from central Reading via the M4 and A329(M). The workshop has full diagnostic and engineering capability on site — we do not sub-contract tuning to a mobile mapper.
How much is a Stage 1 remap for a Golf R or Audi S3 in Reading?
Stage 1 software pricing depends on the platform (MQB EA888, Longitudinal TFSI, etc.) and the supporting hardware. We quote in writing after a short consultation so you know exactly what is included — file, road verification and warranty — before committing.
Can you do Stage 2 with a downpipe and intake fitted?
Yes. Stage 2 is the standard path once you have a high-flow downpipe and an OEM-replacement or intake-build induction. We match the file to your specific hardware combination, fuel grade and intended use rather than uploading a generic Stage 2 map.
Do you tune the DSG gearbox as well as the engine?
We strongly recommend it. Engine torque rises on a Stage 1 or Stage 2 file and the factory TCU calibration is still set for stock output. We calibrate DQ250, DQ381, DQ500 and DL501 transmissions to handle the new torque profile — clutch pressures, shift speed and torque limiters all addressed.
My Reading-area dealer cannot find a fault — can you diagnose it?
Often, yes. Dealers work to flowcharts; we work to first principles using ODIS Engineering access, VCDS and live data correlation on the road. You receive a written diagnostic report before any repair is quoted.
Do you offer collection from Reading?
Collection and drop-off can be arranged for longer-form projects such as forged builds and custom calibration. For standard remaps and diagnostics most customers prefer to bring the car across to the workshop.
Discuss your vehicle with someone who actually knows it.
Every consultation starts with a conversation: your vehicle, your history with it, and what you want from the work. From there we build a transparent plan, document every step, and treat the car the way we'd treat our own.
